Job Description

 

Qualifications: 

The Dean / Director of Nursing oversees and supervises the nursing education program.   The Nursing Division Director coordinates curriculum development, implementation, evaluation and revision in cooperation with the nursing faculty.  The goals of these activities are to graduate students who successfully complete the NCLEX-RN and practice professional nursing effectively in ever-changing health care environment.  Additionally, the Nursing Division Director’s role includes responsibilities to students, faculty, the nursing education program and the community. 

 

                   

  • Master’s degree in nursing, required; Doctorate preferred Eligible for nursing licensure in the State of Oklahoma    Understanding and commitment to community college philosophy. Evidence of successful administrative experience in the management of nursing academic programs, preferred. Minimum two plus (2+) years teaching experience. Demonstrated commitment to the needs and interest of quality nursing education. Excellent communication, organizational, and human relations skills; Evidence of innovative, visionary, and energetic leadership. Experience with distance education. Proven ability to write and administer grants. Experience in accreditation surveys, preferred Proven ability to mentor new faculty Skill in working with multiple agencies Curriculum development experience Commitment to the mission of Eastern Oklahoma State College and dedication to student success in higher education

 

Responsibilities:       

  • Recruitment, professional development, mentoring and evaluation of faculty and staff Collaborative strategic planning and work with internal and external constituents Development, evaluation and implementation of nursing department policies and procedures Instructional program development, review, and continuous quality improvement Compliance with all policies of accrediting agencies Program and curriculum development Budget development, management and oversee nursing grants and nursing scholarships Recruitment, admissions, remediation, and retention of students Strategic planning for program expansion Seeking, maintaining, assuring accreditation with ACEN and State Board of Nursing Promotion of Eastern’s nursing program and positive working relationships with clinical affiliates, advisory boards, and other community agencies Representation of Eastern's Nursing program with state and national nursing organizations Coordinates academic advising for nursing students Assists in the development of the nursing student handbook, nursing website and nursing faculty handbook. Coordinates the student rotations and activities of nursing classes, laboratories and clinical experiences Certify graduates from Oklahoma and other states ‘Board of Nursing graduates who qualify for the NCLEX-RN examination Utilizes current technology and teaching / learning theories to present content based on the Oklahoma Nurse Practice Act, NCLEX-RN test plan, Standards of Nursing Practice and Competencies of associate degree Nurses Recommends and participates in the planning for personnel needed to meet departmental goals Supervises and evaluates faculty and staff positions Develops class schedules and assigns faculty to instructional responsibilities; supervises faculty development Member of the Eastern Academic Leadership Team Performance of other duties and responsibilities as assigned  

 

Length of Assignment:         Twelve months w/ benefits
