Job Description: Dining Room Manager for New Bergen County Restaurant

We are thrilled to announce the upcoming opening of a new restaurant in Bergen County. This European-American restaurant draws inspiration seasonally, emphasizing simplicity and bold flavors.

We aim to establish a welcoming neighborhood destination, sophisticated yet approachable - a place where guests can enjoy an outstanding meal in our thoughtfully designed dining room or savor a late-afternoon, house crafted cocktail and a fresh salad on our back patio.

We are on the lookout for a committed Dining Room Manager to join and lead in cultivating a hardworking, family environment. In this role, you will oversee dinner services, ensuring the highest standards for food, beverages, and service in a high volume environment (200-250 covers).

The ideal candidate is an experienced leader with a passion for culinary excellence and customer service. We are seeking an energetic individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is dedicated to delivering an exceptional dining experience. As a Dining Room Manager, you will play a crucial role in fostering a positive and inclusive workplace, leading by example, and working to enhance both the financial successes and cultural atmosphere of the restaurant.


Key Responsibilities


Service Standards:

- Ensure excellent service is provided for all guests at all times.

- Drive service standards for Front of House positions and provide continuous support to all service staff and actively participate in services as needed.

- Work with Front and Back of House management to engage and educate all staff.

- Ensure excellent maintenance and cleanliness of the dining room at all times.

- Maintain effective systems of communication between all members of the restaurant staff.

- Properly open and close physical operation.


Personnel:

- Recruitment, training, and scheduling of Front of House staff.

- Ensure the restaurant is staffed effectively to execute all service standards.

- Ensure all proper operating standards are met and demonstrate leadership surrounding food safety and labor compliance.


Key Requirements:

- Excellent verbal & written communication skills.

- At least 2 years' in fine dining or 2 years experience in a comparable AGM or Floor Manager role in a less formal restaurant (a mix of fine dining and high volume experience is encouraged)

- Full availability - nights, weekends, holidays (5 days a week).

- Ability to foster the education of FOH staff.

- Ensure DOL and Department of Health compliance.

- Food, wine, and spirits knowledge.

- Ability to multitask, problem-solving & delegate.

- Attention to detail.
