Director-Dental Network Development and Analysis Overview
The Director of Dental Network Development and Analysis is responsible for leading the strategic growth, optimization, and performance analysis of dental provider networks managed for the Company's Strategic Partnerships across the country. This role combines deep analytical expertise with strong relationship management and strategic planning to ensure the networks meet business objectives, regulatory requirements, and stakeholder (member, employer, government) needs. The Director leads a team of geographically dispersed network recruiters and a team of analysts supporting the recruiters and sales teams. The Director will collaborate cross-functionally with product, operations, finance, actuarial, and clinical teams to drive data-informed decisions and innovative network strategies. This role will communicate and coordinate with our Partners to lead recruitment efforts in support of dental products and sales growth goals. Dental networks and products span group and individual commercial markets, as well as government markets including Affordable Care Act (ACA), and embedded Medicare Advantage supplemental benefits.
Essential Duties:
- Manage a team of network Market Managers, working in close coordination with the Product, Clinical, Partner, and leadership teams to provide dental networks that align with product objectives and support sales growth targets
- Design and execute strategies to expand and optimize the dental provider network across markets, balancing discount depth and access in support of the products in market and overall growth goals
- Identify gaps in network adequacy and access by network and product (such as Medicare Advantage) and develop targeted recruitment plans
- Collaborate with third-party vendors and leased provider networks to strategically address network access gaps and enhance the competitiveness of the national network
- Coordinate with leadership to communicate network adequacy monitoring to CMS for ACA dental plans for dental benefits within Medicare Advantage plans, developing targeted recruitment campaigns that are documented and communicated to regulatory agencies as needed
- Lead strategy around negotiations with dental providers and Dental Service Organizations (DSOs) to ensure competitive reimbursement and value-based arrangements that support dental products for each of our Partners, balancing discount depth and network growth
- Support and promote "Dental 4 Health" oral health and medical/clinical integration programs and value proposition to the dental community, working with network managers and in coordination with the clinical team
- Monitor network performance, access, and adequacy using data-driven insights and market benchmarks. Develop dashboards and reporting tools to assist in monitoring
- Oversee network analytics and business analysis team to assess network adequacy, network competitive position, performance, utilization trends, cost efficiency, and member satisfaction
- Use predictive modeling and geospatial analysis to inform network decisions and growth opportunities
- Partner with Product, Sales, Account Management, and Clinical teams to align network strategies with business goals
- Strategically translate data into clear insights and communication
- Support regulatory and compliance teams with network reporting and audit readiness
- Collaborate with the Credentialing, Grievance & Appeals and Clinical teams to ensure provider onboarding, quality assurance, and issue resolution processes are integrated and efficient
- Serve as a subject matter expert in dental network dynamics and market trends
- Foster a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement, leveraging digital tools to maintain strong team engagement and communication
- Mentor team members and support professional development initiatives
- Performs other related duties and responsibilities as assigned
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Deep understanding of dental provider contracting, reimbursement models, and regulatory requirements
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills
- Proven ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and manage complex projects
- Proficiency in Excel, data analysis and trending, and data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI)
- Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to address a wide range of audiences
- Ability to prioritize workflow and maintain attention to detail within time constraints
Required Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Health Administration, Data Analytics, or related field
- 7-10 years of experience in dental or healthcare network management, with 3-5 years in a leadership role
Preferred Skills and Experience:
- Master's degree
- Strong analytical skills with proficiency in SQL, Tableau, or similar tools preferred
- Knowledge of dental claims data and utilization metrics
- Experience with data analysis tools and network disruption tools, such as Quest and Network360, preferred
- Comfortable navigating complex organizational structures and driving alignment across teams.
- Familiarity with CMS and state-level network adequacy standards
