Director of Product at Alliance Technical Group

Alliance Technical Group Decatur, Alabama

Job Description

Description

Summary/Objective

Alliance Technical Group, a premier partner in environmental solutions, is seeking a dynamic and experienced a hands-on, high-ownership Director of Product to lead and scale our product organization. This person will build the systems, culture, and discipline necessary to deliver category-defining software for the environmental testing, inspection, and compliance industry. Success in this role means transforming complex regulatory and operational challenges into elegant, data-driven SaaS solutions that our customers can't imagine working without.

This is not a strategy-only role. You'll roll up your sleeves daily to clarify priorities, translate market insight into actionable requirements, and ensure delivery teams are building what truly moves the business forward. You'll be accountable for understanding the market, setting a bold product vision, and executing relentlessly.

Essential Functions

  • Define and drive the product vision and strategy, aligning them tightly with company goals and the evolving needs of the environmental monitoring market.
  • Build and lead a high-performing product team, including hiring, mentoring, and developing PMs, analysts, and UX professionals
  • Prioritize for impact - own the roadmap and make hard trade-offs that maximize business value and customer outcomes.
  • Translate complexity into clarity by defining crisp requirements and success metrics that guide design and engineering without ambiguity.
  • Partner deeply with development to ensure clear understanding, velocity, and accountability on deliverables.
  • Establish a data-driven feedback loop using customer input, analytics, and field observations to continually refine priorities.
  • Lead Go-To-Market readiness, ensuring alignment across sales, marketing, and customer success before each release.
  • Represent the customer voice internally while maintaining a pragmatic focus on business goals.
  • Own product performance metrics - adoption, engagement, retention, and profitability - and use them to drive decisions.
  • Stay ahead of the industry by tracking trends, competitors, and regulatory changes to position our products for long-term success.
  • Be visibly accountable - communicate decisions, progress, and results clearly to executives, teams, and customers.
  • Model urgency and bias for action. When blockers arise, you remove them - not wait for them to resolve.

Supervisor Responsibilities

  • Supervises, hires, trains, provides work direction, and problem-solving assistance for employees; also oversees the daily operations of other staff

Required Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in software or SaaS product management, with at least 5 years leading teams or departments.
  • Proven ability to deliver complex software products from vision to commercial success.
  • Experience owning both strategy and execution in a fast-moving, resource-constrained environment.
  • Deep familiarity with Agile practices, backlog management, and stakeholder alignment.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills - able to synthesize inputs from executives, customers, and engineers into clear direction.
  • Demonstrated success in market discovery, GTM strategy, and data-driven decision-making.
  • Prior experience in environmental, compliance, or industrial SaaS preferred.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Extensive knowledge of product lifecycle
  • Experience with project planning; ability to set and meet deadlines
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Experience working on large-scale software projects; ability to lead cross-functional team to achieve goals and objectives
  • Proficient in MS Office programs
  • Strong people skills; ability to communicate with associates and customers
