About the RoleWe’re seeking a Director of Retail Operations to lead and scale MML’s retail portfolio—anchored by ByGeorge and Westside Market, with exciting new concepts on the horizon. This hands-on leadership role blends strategic vision and operational excellence across design-driven retail environments. Reporting directly to Larry McGuire, this individual will partner with MML leadership to define the company’s long-term retail strategy and bring new ideas to life while maintaining the exceptional quality and guest experience MML is known for.
Key ResponsibilitiesStrategy & Growth
- Partner with Larry McGuire to define and execute MML’s retail vision.
- Lead growth and expansion across existing and future retail concepts.
- Identify new market opportunities and partnerships that align with MML’s philosophy.
Operations & Execution
- Oversee daily operations, ensuring consistency, profitability, and an elevated guest experience.
- Implement scalable systems, processes, and technology.
- Manage supply chain, vendor relationships, and inventory across multiple concepts.
- Establish operating standards, KPIs, and service benchmarks.
Merchandising & Partnerships
- Lead product curation and merchandising strategy with design and brand teams.
- Cultivate strong vendor and brand relationships that reflect MML’s aesthetic.
- Oversee seasonal planning, assortment, and pricing strategies.
Financial Leadership
- Own retail P&L, driving revenue growth and margin improvement.
- Develop budgets, sales forecasts, and performance metrics.
- Implement financial controls, inventory management, and loss prevention programs.
Team & Culture
- Recruit, train, and lead a high-performing retail team.
- Foster a culture of hospitality, creativity, and accountability.
- Mentor managers and staff to support professional growth and retention.
Collaboration
- Partner with MML’s hospitality, design, and development teams to integrate retail into mixed-use and hospitality projects.
- Drive experiential programming, events, and activations that blend retail, dining, art, and design.
- 10+ years of leadership in premium or luxury retail operations with multi-unit oversight.
- Proven experience launching and scaling retail concepts.
- Strong background in merchandising, supply chain, and vendor management.
- Track record of P&L ownership and measurable financial results.
- Exceptional communication, leadership, and negotiation skills.
- Passion for design, hospitality, and creating elevated customer experiences.
- Preferred: Experience in retail within mixed-use, lifestyle, or hospitality environments.
