Job Summary: The Director of Supportive Housing is responsible for creating, maintaining and reporting on outcome tracking systems and procedures relating to the policy goals of the portfolio, and managing all service associated contracts and partnerships to ensure positive outcomes and compliance with regulatory commitments. 

Duties & Responsibilities:

Team Leadership: 

  • Oversee the growth, strategy, and operations of the supportive housing portfolio, ensuring alignment with UPholdings mission and goals.
  • Supervise and coach a national team of Community Partnership Managers and Tenant Support Managers ensuring accountability, professional growth, and high performance.

Program Development:

  • Partner with Development, Operations and Compliance teams to align program and property management strategies and outcomes.
  • Evaluate policies, procedures, and best practices for blended management, service integration and reporting outcomes at properties. 
  • Secure, manage, and report on service-related grants and funding contracts
  • Participate in business development, advocacy, and policy efforts to advance supportive housing opportunities and improve service delivery.

Partnership and Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with the property owner, tenants, vendors, and contractors. 
  • Build and maintain relationships with funders, service providers, and community partners to support resident success and program growth.

Compliance and Performance Management:

  • Maintain systems to track outcomes, monitor compliance, and report on key performance indicators [across all PSH programs.


Requirements:

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

· Exceptional leadership and organizational management skills

· Excellent written and verbal communication; able to communicate across multiple audiences with professionalism and polish.

· Strong understanding of supportive housing models, behavioral health, and social service systems.

· Experience managing funding streams including HUD, Medicaid/Medi-Cal, and other public/private sources.

· Understanding of laws, guidelines, and best practices of property management. 

· Ability to operate at a fast pace, managing multiple priorities, deadlines, and competing demands with urgency and accuracy.

· Comfortable wearing many hats and adapting quickly to changing needs across teams, programs, and partners.

· Thrives in a dynamic environment that requires proactive communication, responsiveness, and a high level of situational awareness.

· Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite data management software, and reporting tools (e.g., HMIS).


Education & Experience:

· Bachelors degree in a related field preferred.

· Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in supportive housing, homelessness response, or human services, including 2 years of supervisory or program leadership experience.

· Experience working with grants, community service providers, and nonprofits preferred. 

· Must have a valid drivers license, insurance, maintain a clean driving record, and the ability to travel as needed.


Physical Demands:

· Long periods of working on a computer and communicating via phone and email.

· Ability to move throughout building and worksites as necessary.

· Reaching, grasping and occasionally lift and carry objects weighing up to 20 pounds.

· Regular travel to various locations, which may include air travel.
