Job Description
The Department of Pediatrics, Section of Neurology, at the Yale School of Medicine is seeking an outstanding full-time, clinical-academic pediatric epileptologist to serve as Director of the Yale Comprehensive Pediatric Epilepsy Program. Applicants are sought at the Associate Professor or Professor ranks, based on background and experience, and academic appointments will be in the Yale School of Medicine.
The Director will be responsible for significantly expanding Pediatric Epilepsy-related clinical programs and research. Further responsibilities for the Director will be to strengthen and develop new training programs geared toward excellence and leadership – core elements to achieve a compelling and transformative vision for the future of Pediatric Epilepsy.
In addition to both inpatient and outpatient clinical responsibilities, the Director will be expected to help expand pediatric, neonatal, and ICU video/EEG monitoring, the ketogenic diet and VNS programs, and importantly, the Pediatric Epilepsy Surgery program. There will be numerous opportunities to contribute to clinical and research programs within the Section of Pediatric Neurology, as well as in conjunction with the National Association of Epilepsy Centers (NAEC) Level IV Yale Comprehensive Epilepsy Center, directed by Drs. Lawrence Hirsch (Neurology) and Eyiyemesi Damisah (Neurosurgery). Extensive infrastructure for research is available throughout the Yale Campus, and cutting-edge initiatives in Clinical Neurosciences/Neuroimaging and basic-translational neurosciences are currently being implemented.
The successful Program Director will join an existing team of 3 fellowship-trained and BC/BE Pediatric Epileptologists and will collaborate with 6 other Pediatric Neurologists with a broad range of subspecialty interests and skills, 10+ Adult Epileptologists, 3+ Neuropsychologists (1 Pediatric), and 2 Epilepsy Neurosurgeons. The Yale Pediatric Neurology Residency Program admits two residents per year, and all residents rotate through Pediatric Epilepsy. In addition, the Pediatric Epilepsy Program has dedicated nursing, pediatric psychology, nutrition, administrative and social work support. Finally, plans have been approved to expand the epilepsy monitoring unit at Yale New Haven Children’s Hospital. This important expansion will be augmented with additional satellite facilities throughout Connecticut within the Yale New Haven Health System.

Responsibilities
- Diagnosing and caring for inpatients with epilepsy and associated disorders.
- Teaching medical students, APPs, residents and fellows
- Participating in academic activities.?
- Developing the Epilepsy program in partnership with the Pediatric and Adult neurological specialists and support.
Qualifications
- We seek motivated academic physicians with clinical expertise in the care of pediatric general neurology and subspecialty epilepsy patients
- Participation in clinical trials
- Teaching medical trainees.
- MD or equivalent
- Board certified/board eligible in Neurology
- Completed a Pediatric Neurology or other subspecialty fellowship
- Applicants must meet the criteria for medical licensure in the State of Connecticut.
- Appropriate credentialing by Yale New Haven Health to practice the full spectrum of Pediatric Epilepsy diagnostic and therapeutic interventions. As such, successful applicants should have completed subspecialty training in epilepsy and be certified in clinical neurophysiology (ABPN or ABCN or equivalent).
