Job Description

Field Service Technician (FSR2) Location: Hackettstown, NJ Compensation: $120,000 – $140,000 annually (based on experience) Travel: Regular regional travel to customer sites required About the Role We’re looking for an experienced Field Service Technician (FSR2) to support field operations by performing troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems and industrial controls. This position is ideal for someone who thrives on solving complex technical issues, enjoys working independently, and is passionate about delivering high-quality service. What You’ll Do Technical & Field Work Troubleshoot, maintain, and repair electrical systems including transformers, circuit breakers, LV/MV switchgear, PLC controls, and other electrical components. Diagnose and resolve on-site issues with minimal supervision to reduce downtime and keep systems running efficiently. Perform system inspections and testing to ensure compliance with industry standards. Collaborate with other technicians and engineers to address complex service needs. Customer Support Act as the primary technical point of contact during service calls, providing clear communication and effective solutions. Document service activities including reports, testing results, and performance data. Maintain a strong focus on customer satisfaction through professionalism and quality work. Operational Efficiency Independently manage and prioritize multiple service calls. Coordinate parts, tools, and resources to complete tasks efficiently. Maintain accurate records of service work, time, and materials. Support remote troubleshooting and assist teammates when needed. Safety & Compliance Follow OSHA and company safety protocols at all times. Conduct site-specific safety assessments and mitigate risks. Participate in safety briefings and promote a culture of safety among peers. Continuous Improvement Stay current with emerging technologies and industry best practices. Identify and recommend process improvements to enhance service quality. Help document and improve Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). What You Bring Education & Certifications High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or related technical field preferred. Certifications such as NFPA 70E or OSHA 30 are a plus. Experience 3–5 years of hands-on field service experience in power systems, electrical equipment, or industrial controls. Strong troubleshooting background with transformers, switchgear, PLCs, SCADA systems, and relay protection. Familiarity with field service management tools and diagnostic software. Skills Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills. Proficient with standard electrical tools and testing equipment (multimeters, relay test sets, etc.). Strong communication and time management abilities. Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and schematics. Team-oriented with a high commitment to safety and service quality. Additional Requirements Willingness to travel frequently and stay overnight when needed. Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
