Position Summary:

We are seeking a knowledgeable and experienced Electrical Lineman Instructor to train and mentor aspiring electrical lineworkers. The instructor will be responsible for delivering hands-on and classroom-based instruction in electrical linework, safety procedures, equipment operation, and industry best practices. The ideal candidate will have significant field experience, a passion for teaching, and a commitment to developing the next generation of skilled linemen.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Instruct students in both classroom and field environments on topics including:
    • Electrical theory and safety
    • Overhead and underground line construction
    • Pole climbing and rigging techniques
    • Use and maintenance of lineman tools and equipment
    • OSHA and NESC safety standards
  • Develop, update, and maintain training curriculum, lesson plans, and instructional materials.
  • Assess student performance through written tests, practical evaluations, and ongoing observation.
  • Ensure all instruction aligns with industry standards and complies with relevant safety regulations.
  • Maintain equipment and training yard for instructional use.
  • Provide mentorship, coaching, and career guidance to students.
  • Participate in professional development, industry events, and advisory boards as needed.
  • Qualifications:

Required:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a journeyman lineman or equivalent role in the electrical utility industry.
  • Completion of an accredited apprenticeship or formal lineman training program.
  • Strong knowledge of utility safety standards (e.g., OSHA, NESC).
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to climb poles, operate bucket trucks, and demonstrate field work as needed.

Preferred:

  • Prior teaching, mentoring, or instructional experience.
  • Associate degree or higher in a related field (not required but beneficial).
  • Certification in CPR/First Aid, OSHA 10/30, or other relevant credentials.
  • Familiarity with adult learning principles and vocational training methods.
