Job Description
The Department of Curriculum and Instruction in the School of Education and Human Sciences at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) invites applications for appointment to a 9- month tenure earning position at the level of Assistant Professor to begin August 2026. Salary and terms of appointment are commensurate with prior experience. The Assistant Professor in Elementary Mathematics Education will help prepare pre- and in-service teachers across grades P–6, with an emphasis on meeting the needs of pre-service teachers according to the Alabama Numeracy Act. The successful candidate will have an earned doctorate in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, Mathematics Education, or a closely related field and will engage in scholarly activities (40%) such as securing grants, conducting research, publishing in peer-reviewed journals, and presenting at conferences. The candidate will also teach (40%) undergraduate and graduate courses, contribute service (20%) to the department, school, university, and the profession, collaborate with faculty and administrators to meet accreditation standards, and develop partnerships with schools to enhance program offerings.
