Direct Counsel is seeking a mid to senior-level Employment Litigation Associate Attorney to join a highly regarded national law firm with a thriving management-side employment practice in New York.

About the Opportunity

In this role, you’ll represent sophisticated private sector employers in state and federal courts, arbitrations, and before administrative agencies. You’ll take on meaningful responsibility across complex, high-stakes litigation while working alongside a collaborative group of experienced employment attorneys.

This position is ideal for someone who is passionate about employment law, values strategic advocacy, and thrives in a fast-paced, client-facing environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct fact investigations and lead all phases of discovery, including managing substantial ESI productions

  • Prepare and defend witnesses and parties for depositions, while also taking and defending depositions

  • Draft, oppose, and argue dispositive and discovery-related motions

  • Develop litigation strategy in partnership with senior attorneys and actively contribute to case planning

  • Communicate effectively with clients, opposing counsel, courts, and internal stakeholders

Qualifications
  • 5+ years of management-side employment litigation experience at an AmLaw or reputable boutique firm

  • Admission to practice in New York state and federal courts (New Jersey and/or Connecticut admission a plus)

  • Strong writing, research, and courtroom advocacy skills

  • Demonstrated ability to manage a portfolio of active matters efficiently and with sound judgment

  • Confident communicator with excellent interpersonal skills and a client-first mindset

This position follows a hybrid schedule with attorneys typically present in the New York office three or more days per week.

Why Join This Team?
  • Lean staffing = real impact. Associates play an active role in strategy and case execution rather than being siloed to one task.

  • Hands-on mentorship. Work closely with partner-level attorneys who are invested in your professional growth.

  • High-caliber work across industries. You’ll gain exposure to diverse matters involving well-known clients across multiple sectors.

If you're seeking a platform where you can take ownership of significant matters while continuing to elevate your litigation career, we’d love to connect.
