Executive Sous Chef
$72,000/Year + Performance Bonus + Tips

Ambrosia Foods is a chef-driven catering company redefining what large-scale events can taste like. Born on a shoestring budget in 2020, we've grown into one of Chicago’s premier catering companies — serving everything from intimate 20-person boardroom lunches to 1,200-guest galas with style, detail, and flavor.

We're looking for an Executive Sous Chef to join our kitchen leadership team and help drive our next phase of growth. This is a full-time position reporting to our Executive Chef. We’re looking for someone who’s hungry to learn, eager to lead, and ready to grow with us.

What You’ll Do:
  • Support the Executive Chef in managing all aspects of daily kitchen operations. 

  • Lead prep and execution for a wide range of events (drop-offs, buffets, plated dinners, and more). The kitchen members you'll be working alongside are some of the strongest in Chicago. 

  • Maintain excellence in food quality, kitchen organization, and team efficiency

  • Execute thoughtful, seasonal food inspired by global cuisines — we cook across cultures, always with nuance and detail

  • Ensure high standards of cleanliness, safety, and professionalism.

Schedule:

Weekly hours will average 45, with two days off per week. 

Compensation & Perks:
  • Base salary: $72,000

  • Quarterly performance bonus:

    • $1,500 bonus if Ambrosia Foods hits $300K+ in sales in a quarter

  • Tip-outs from on-site events 

  • Major growth potential in both pay and responsibility as we expand.

Benefits:
  • 2 weeks paid time off (PTO)

  • 1 week paid vacation every January (January 1–7)


You’d Be a Great Fit If You:
  • Have at least 7 years of professional kitchen experience (including a minimum of 3 years leadership experience). Applicants with less than 3 Years experience as an executive sous chef or higher will not be considered. 

  • Thrive in fast-paced environments and love the energy of events

  • Care deeply about flavor, detail, and presentation — no matter the format

  • Are curious & open-minded about food, and flat out love to cook. 

  • Want to grind, learn, and develop your culinary & management skills alongside a strong, experienced team.
