Job Title: Fabrication Programmer

Location: Roanoke, TX 76262

Job Type: Full-Time

The Fabrication Programmer is responsible for developing, optimizing, and maintaining CNC and robotic fabrication programs for laser cutting, bending, and welding operations supporting the production of CNG and hydrogen fuel system components. The role requires hands-on expertise with Amada and Trumpf laser systems, Trumpf and Safan Darley press brakes, and programming tools such as SigmaNest, Trumpf Boost, and Autopol. This position plays a critical part in ensuring precision, efficiency, and quality throughout CCFTs fabrication processes. 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Develop, validate, and maintain CNC programs for Amada and Trumpf laser cutting machines, Trumpf and Safan Darley press brakes, and robotic welding systems.
  • Utilize SigmaNest, Trumpf Boost, and Autopol software to create optimized programs from CAD models and engineering drawings.
  • Import and interpret 3D models and MBD data from SolidWorks or AutoCAD for accurate part programming.
  • Optimize tool paths, nesting layouts, cutting parameters, and bend sequences to minimize cycle time and material waste.
  • Collaborate with fabrication operators and engineers to improve process efficiency and part quality.
  • Maintain setup sheets, tool lists, and work instructions in alignment with ISO 9001 and CCFT quality standards.
  • Support first article inspections (FAI) and PPAP documentation for new or revised components.
  • Assist in commissioning new fabrication machinery and ensure integration with MES and ERP systems.
  • Conduct troubleshooting for fabrication equipment, machine interfaces, or program-related issues to minimize downtime.
  • Participate in Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement initiatives (Kaizen, SMED, 5S, TPM). Collect and analyze data to support process improvements and decision-making.
  • Train operators on the proper use of machines and software.

Qualifications 

Education

  • Associate or Bachelors degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical, Controls, or Industrial Engineering preferred
  • Equivalent technical training or certification in CNC/Fabrication Programming accepted with proven experience.

Experience

  • Minimum 35 years of hands-on programming experience in a metal fabrication environment.
  • Proven proficiency with Amada and Trumpf laser cutting systems, Trumpf and Safan Darley press brakes, and software such as SigmaNest, Trumpf Trutops Boost, and Autopol.
  • Experience with Yasakawa, Fanuc, OTC, or ABB robotic welding systems preferred.
  • Working knowledge of GD&T, ISO 9001 quality systems, and PPAP documentation.

Skills

  • Strong understanding of fabrication processes laser cutting, bending, welding, and assembly
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, BOMs, and 3D models accurately
  • Analytical mindset with focus on process optimization and waste reduction.
  • Familiarity with stainless steel, carbon steel, and aluminum materials used in fuel system manufacturing.
  • Excellent teamwork, communication, and documentation skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, SolidWorks, and ERP/MES environments.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively.

  • Accuracy and quality of fabricated parts (first-pass yield).
  • Reduction in cycle time and setup time for fabrication operations.
  • Program optimization for material utilization and throughput.
