JOB TITLE: Facilities Director
REPORTS TO: Executive Leadership
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Institute of Culinary Education (ICE) is seeking a Facilities Director to oversee its 75,000 sq ft campus in lower Manhattan. ICE is one of America’s leading centers for culinary education and the largest culinary school in New York City and Los Angeles. We are passionate about helping students of all ages and backgrounds pursue their culinary career dreams and we’re looking for a Facilities Director with a hands-on approach who is eager to maintain our HVAC and Equipment intense operation at a first-rate standard.
The Facilities Director is a key member of our operations team charged with overseeing the management and maintenance of our physical infrastructure, overseeing the hands-on repairs for all related kitchen equipment and developing the facilities staff.
This driven professional should thrive in a highly respected hospitality environment. Success in this role requires proven prior success overseeing an equipment intense environment/facility.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Team leadership – of the facilities staff
- Budget and financial management for the campus’s physical plant
- Planning/implementation – of a recurring proactive maintenance program for the school’s systems/equipment and occasional renovations
- Maintenance and Operations – Oversight and execution of all aspects of building maintenance, including repairs, renovations and preventative maintenance on mechanical, electrical, steam and other systems.
- Campus cost control of business expenses in conjunction with building fees and charges
- Preventative maintenance on all internal equipment
- Vendor management – price conscientious oversite of the facilities contractors and equipment/supplies vendors
- Safety and compliance – conducting all of the above in a safe manner that complies with local codes, laws and regulations
- Payroll review, submission and budgeting for the facilities department
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Minimum 7-10 years of related work experience
- Certified HVAC technician strongly preferred
- Working / hands-on knowledge of plumbing, electrical, general contracting, construction, and mechanical systems (including restaurant equipment repair, computer energy management systems, BMS and HVAC systems).
- Driven and positive work ethic
- A strong leader and communicator
- Bi-lingual in Spanish preferred

The position is full-time and requires flexibility to work some evenings and occasional weekend shifts.
