Wilkes University invites applicants for a non-tenure-track Faculty of Practice position in Spanish, within the Division of Global Cultures: History, Languages & Philosophy, pending available funding. The Division of Global Cultures offers a major and minor in Spanish, as well as the unique Spanish Concentration for Pharmacy, which serves students in our Doctor of Pharmacy program. Faculty of Practice carry a 24-credit teaching load (4 courses per semester). Appointments are made on a 9-month basis and are renewed annually. Faculty of Practice are afforded all privileges of other full-time faculty, including rights to vote and participate in faculty governance and the protection of academic freedom.
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Teaching a variety of Spanish courses, including introductory and intermediate language courses as well as applied courses (e.g. Spanish for health care) that support the Spanish Concentration for Pharmacy.
- Non-teaching duties include student advising and university service.
Required Qualifications:
- A Ph.D. or Ed.D. in Spanish or a closely related field is required.
- The ideal candidate will have experience in Hispanic American culture and literature, an interest in contributing to programs that serve students in education and the health sciences, and a willingness to support study abroad experiences for our students.
