Farm Interpreter at NOVA Parks
Job Description
The Farm Interpreter is responsible for the care of interpretive animals and maintenance of the facility and equipment.
Pay Rate: $14.50 per hour.
Major Duties/Specific Tasks
- Assist with implementation of interpretive program: plan and present educational programs; plan and prepare exhibits and other interpretive and educational materials.
- Assist with management of interpretive animals:provide necessary feeding; ensure the health and safety of animals; maintain and develop animal health records.
- Perform proper NOVA Parks business policies and procedures.
Minimum Qualifications
- Knowledge of animal husbandry and farm management.
- Considerable ability to communicate clearly and effectively with the public and with staff members.
- Working knowledge of computers.
- Ability to prepare and present accurate reports.
- Ability to perform heavy manual labor and to work in all weather conditions.
- Strength and dexterity necessary to perform all required tasks, including lifting, stooping, bending, and working in tiring and uncomfortable positions.
- Availability for call in emergencies.
- Availability to work additional hours during peak operating times.
- Certification or ability to obtain certification in CPR and first aid.
- Required to purchase and wear standard uniform.
