Stylus is an acoustic salon for cultural exploration in the heart of the Lower East Side. Conceived as a world class sonic environment, it is home to ephemeral artistic experiences that will foster conversation, contemplation and connection. With an architectural space both intimate and adaptive, Stylus will bring together thought-leaders and innovators from the worlds of performance, science, technology, music, film and food. Conceived in collaboration with the world’s leading audio experts, a variety of listening rooms will host talented vinyl “selectors” and unique live performances. A recording and podcast studio with a green room is also accessible to members and their teams. Seasonally inspired, locally sourced small plates will be prepared by our in-house culinary team, helmed by Michelin-starred chef Anita Lo and an international rotation of visiting chefs.
The F&B Manager will be responsible for maintaining the food and beverage (F&B) operation in conjunction with the F&B Director. As the F&B Manager, your primary responsibility is to uphold service standards and create an approachable yet elevated atmosphere for members, guests and staff within Stylus. In this role you will also oversee forecasting, business improvement plans and manage payroll/labor, budgets and revenue.
Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities
HOSPITALITY & SERVICE
- Promotes the values and culture of Stylus, including but not limited to excellence in food and beverage, service, and hospitality.
- Leads service as a floor manager. Actively engages in all steps of service including greeting members and their guests, guiding through our food and beverage selections, order taking, beverage service, check handling, etc.
- Assists with the needs of the wine and beverage program - tasks include (but are not limited to) guiding members through wine and spirits selections, making sound recommendations, delivering correct and efficient wine service, organizing and maintaining storage areas for all beverages, and updating all beverage lists and menus.
- Liaises between the FOH and BOH, ensuring communication is clear and that both teams deliver the needs of the guests.
- Develops positive member relationships and delivers a warm and personalized membership experience.
- Responds efficiently and accurately based on Stylus protocols to member inquiries, questions, and feedback.
FINANCE
- Develops and promotes plans for growing sales and controlling cost of goods.
- Assists in inventory management and auditing for all departments including wine and spirits, non-alcoholic beverages, glass and silverware, linen, retail, maintenance supplies, etc.
- Maintaining and uploading all invoices to inventory and accounting systems, ensuring payments are processed in a timely manner through accounts payable.
- Maintains and utilizes daily, weekly, quarterly and annual financial reporting tools.
- Ensures proper team member coverage per the needs of business while maintaining target labor costs.
- Oversees all cash management functions; Maintains proper loss prevention standards, including reviewing cash handling procedures, deposits and safe procedures.
- Review daily time punches for accuracy; address time clock abuse (clocking in early or late) via coaching and/or documentation.
OPERATIONS
- Oversees daily FOH administration including payroll, opening/closing administration, service floor plans, daily walkthroughs, etc.
- Manages hourly employees in their daily responsibilities, providing clear, effective direction.
- Creates systems of accountability and provides consistent feedback, coaching, and disciplinary action as needed.
- Performs all back office POS functions including employee profile and menu creation.
- Plans, executes and communicates all promotions and company information effectively and efficiently.
- Conducts Department of Health walk-throughs multiple times per day when on duty to ensure DOH compliance; Address all DOH violations immediately.
- Promotes and practices safe work habits, identifies and resolves potential safety hazards; Documents accidents, conducts initial investigation and determination of root cause of safety incidents in the interest of maintaining a safe work environment.
- Ensures that all team members are educated on Stylus F&B selections, events, and artist highlights. Participates in daily staff meetings and periodically held classes.
- Ensures that all Stylus beverage recipes and procedures are followed, maintaining the highest quality and consistent product standards.
- Report any maintenance or repairs needed to keep the property in good condition.
- Open and close shifts both day and night; ensure proper check-out of all FOH hourly employees, conduct cash depositing, walk-through all service areas, and submit financial and service reports by end of shift.
- Submit all end-of-night (“EON”) reports to the entire leadership team both FOH and BOH including founders, ensuring reporting of sales and cover counts, member feedback, and any incident reporting is done accurately and in a timely manner.
STAFF MANAGEMENT
- Train, supervise, manage, coach, counsel, and evaluate all FOH hourly employees.
- Acts as role model for outstanding service; continuously works to elevate service standards, and personally embodies hospitality in daily actions.
- Consistently monitors, coaches and encourages FOH team to meet Stylus service standards.
- Resolves team member or member conflicts consistent with Stylus guidelines.
- Identifies staffing, recruiting, interviewing, hiring, and training needs of qualified candidates; Facilitates on-going training and development of current staff; Coach and counsel team members for improved performance, documenting developmental plans as necessary. Deliver performance reviews to FOH hourly employees.
- Builds morale and team spirit by fostering a work environment where team members’ input is encouraged.
- Responsible for training new employees as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Possesses a positive, results-oriented, team-player mentality.
- Knowledge of workplace safety procedures and NYC Department of Health standards.
- Food Handler’s Certification or the ability to obtain in accordance with NYC regulations.
- Able to work a flexible schedule in order to accommodate business levels (weekend, nights, and holiday availability required).
- Proficiency with industry relevant systems of operations (Toast, SevenRooms, PeopleVine, Craftable, etc)
- Working proficiency of human resource principles, practices, and procedures.
- Demonstrates positive leadership characteristics and supervisory skills, which inspire team members to meet and exceed standards.
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to execute steps of service in adherence with Stylus policy.
- A degree in hospitality and/or a certification relating to beverage education (wine and spirits) is preferred but not mandatory.
- Experience as a sommelier or working in tandem with wine and beverage operations is preferred but not mandatory.
- Prior experience in a private members club is preferred but not mandatory.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to lift up to 50lbs if necessary
- Ability to move or handle equipment throughout all spaces
- Stand and walk for an entire shift, including moving safely through all areas
- Ability to physically maneuver through work areas; bend, lift, carry, reach/extend arms, and hands above shoulder height frequently, or otherwise move in a constantly changing environment
