Job Description

The Waverly Inn has developed one of New York’s most beloved places to eat and drink for the past 20 years. Most importantly, we believe in the power of treating all our guests like regulars and providing unforgettable experiences.


We are currently searching for a Front of House Supervisor.
FOH Supervisors are passionate about coordinating the team and ensuring everyone has the tools they need to make the shift a success. 


Front-end management directs and oversees all dining room activities in accordance with our standardized policies in order to provide efficient, friendly service and flawless operations. Additionally, this role possesses an enhanced focus and dedication to the details of all FOH organization and service, reporting directly to the General Manager.


Essential duties & responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:


Maintaining courteous disposition and a neat, clean and professional personal image. 


Assisting the management team with active management of FOH staff (may include: scheduling, staff conflict, documentation, hiring, termination, etc.)


Responding to guest inquiries and providing assistance as needed to ensure a memorable experience and most importantly, can be relied upon to resolve complaints from guests during service in a polite, professional manner.


Working collaboratively with management to drive the success of the restaurant. You will be responsible for overseeing efficiency and following policies for service on a daily basis Including:


  • Supervising staff in guest service, and product knowledge, promoting cooperative effort, team spirit and good morale among employees

  • Keeping up to date knowledge of food and beverage items on menu

  • Performing daily inspections of all front of house areas for cleanliness and repair. Adhering to all company safety and sanitation policies and procedures. 

  • Enhancing existing guest relationships and establishing new ones, by delivering excellent guest service, including personally greeting, seating guests and being present during all aspects of service.

  • Able to step in with duties of other employees (i.e. host, server, food runner, etc.) when necessary

Ideal candidates will be able to leverage their previous experience in fine dining, luxury and destination dining to enhance procedures at the Waverly Inn, with a focus on efficiency and excellent service but we encourage all who meet the following to apply: 


Minimum Qualifications (Education, Experience, Skills)


  • 3+ years experience supervising or management in the hospitality industry
  • High School Diploma or GED graduate
  • Food Handler Certification required (or to be obtained within 3 months of hiring)

  • Ability to handle high volume, time sensitive work in a restaurant setting
  • Ability to coordinate multiple activities and delegate tasks with attention to final details
  • Ability to work independently, with minimal supervision while maintaining a clean healthy, and safe working environment for all. 
    • Daily use of Microsoft and Google applications including, Outlook, Word, Excel as well as Apple app based versions of programs required.
    • Familiarity with Toast, Resy, and/or 7 Shifts strongly preferred. 

Candidates Must Meet The Following Criteria for Consideration:  


  • Local to the New York City Metro area and provide proof they are authorized to work in the United States
  • Able to operate and use all equipment necessary to run the restaurant
  • Able to work varied hours/days as business dictates
  • Able to walk and stand for up to 10 hours a day
  • Must be able to tolerate potential allergens: peanut products, egg, dairy, gluten, soy, seafood and shellfish
