QUALIFICATIONS

  • The successful candidate must have a minimum of one year of front office experience in a medical office or healthcare setting.
  • High school diploma/GED or equivalent working knowledge preferred.
  • Previous experience in collecting money is preferred.
  • Requires knowledge of insurance rules and regulations, medical terminology, HIPAA Guidelines, and computer scheduling systems.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with Providers, patients, and the public and capable of establishing good working relationships with both internal and external customers.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Responsible for preparing new patient paperwork, identifying, and collecting co-payments, co-insurances, and past-due account balances.
  • Screens upcoming and follow-up appointments for required referrals and/or authorizations; ensures all required referrals and/or authorizations are scanned into the patient’s chart and attached to the correct appointment(s).
  • Responsible for maintaining a secure and accurate cash drawer, ensuring the cash box always has the prescribed amount. Responsible for daily balancing of cash drawer and closing batch.
  • Maintains general knowledge of insurance plans accepted by The CORE Institute.
  • Maintains strictest patient confidentiality.
