St. Charles Community College seeks qualified candidates to join its English Department for the position of full-time English Faculty beginning in 2026. We desire candidates with a commitment to diverse modes of thinking and an appreciation for the vast cultural backgrounds and experiences that students bring to the classroom. Experience teaching composition in the co-requisite model of instruction is especially desirable and will be a major part of the selected candidate(s) teaching load.
We are particularly interested in candidates with backgrounds in diverse literary traditions (particularly African American, Caribbean, Asian American, or Latinx literature) as well as those with experience teaching technical writing. Pending budgetary approval, we will be hiring up to two candidates.
Interested applicants should submit a cover letter and curriculum vita (which should include at least three professional references), and a brief teaching philosophy statement of no more than two single-spaced pages. Selected candidates will be asked to provide evidence of effective teaching and a statement about diversity in the classroom, but please do not submit these as part of the initial application.
Minimum Qualifications: MA in English or Creative Writing.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience teaching co-requisite composition; background in African American, Caribbean, Asian American, or Latinx literature or background in teaching technical writing. Experience using a Learning Management System (Canvas, Blackboard, etc.).
