About The Venue: Claude’s Comedy Club & Bar is a new live comedy venue opening in South Philadelphia. The room will host a variety of local and nationally-touring comics. The bar will focus on craft beer and cocktails with a light food menu and will operate during show hours and non-show hours.
About The Position: The General Manager will oversee all bar operations.
Duties:
- Ability and knowledge to develop a strong beverage program
- Hire, train, and manage staff, including front-of-house (servers, bartenders, support)
- Schedule shifts and manage labor costs efficiently
- Managing beverage costs, product levels, and weekly inventories
- Place all food and beverage orders
- Regularly update the menu and POS system
- Oversee daily closeouts, tip reporting, and POS reconciliation
- Ability to monitor and operate the draft line system
- Maintain proper documentation and handle any necessary reporting for inspections and audits
- Ensure the restaurant complies with all local, state, and federal regulations regarding labor laws, alcohol service, and food safety
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
- 3+ years managing a fast-paced, high-volume bar or restaurant
- Ability to work full-time (40-50 hours a week)
- Beer, wine and spirit knowledge preferred, with a focus on cocktails and craft beer
- Strong understanding of budgeting and forecasting
- Experience with Toast POS systems and management software
- Experience with Google Workspace, Adobe Suite, Microsoft Office
- Familiarity with Wordpress or other content management systems
- Ability to handle difficult situations calmly and professionally
- Strong leadership, organizational, and multitasking abilities
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of food safety standards and best practices
- ServSafe and RAMP certification preferred
- Open to a wide variety of viewpoints and comedy styles
- Good sense of humor
