The Role:
The Director of Operations is the central leader responsible for nurturing the soul of Left Door while ensuring its seamless execution. You will be the steward of our standards, a mentor to our team, and the key point person to ownership in shaping our future. Your focus will be on strengthening our team, perfecting the guest journey, and ensuring the overall health and harmony of the business. This is an opportunity to lead a celebrated venue, fostering a culture of excellence from the inside out.
Responsibilities:
1. Culture & Team Leadership:
● Lead, mentor, and inspire the entire team, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.
● Uphold and elevate Left Door’s standards of hospitality, ensuring every guest feels welcomed and valued.
● Oversee the hiring, onboarding, and continuous professional development of all staff.
2. Operational Excellence:
● Refine and perfect all front-of-house and back-of-house systems to create a smooth, efficient operation.
● Oversee vendor relationships, ensuring we partner with the best suppliers to support our quality-driven beverage program.
● Manage inventory with care and precision, ensuring the team has everything they need.
3. Business Health & Strategy:
● Partner with ownership on strategic planning and the long-term vision for the bar.
● Guide the financial stewardship of the business, ensuring we operate thoughtfully and sustainably.
● Ensure unwavering compliance with all San Francisco and California regulations (ABC, Health Dept.).
4. Guest Experience:
● Act as the ultimate guardian of the guest experience, from the first impression to the last.
● Gather feedback and work with the team to constantly innovate and improve our service and offerings.
Qualifications:
● 4+ years of leadership experience in an upscale bar or high end hospitality setting.
● A genuine passion for hospitality and a guest-first mentality.
● Proven ability to mentor managers and build positive, high-performing teams.
● Big collaborative energy with ownership and teams.
● A deep appreciation for food, spirits, wine, and craft cocktail culture.
● A calm, composed leader who thrives in a dynamic environment.
● A strong understanding of the moving parts of a successful bar operation.
● A highly detailed individual.
● Familiarity with the San Francisco hospitality scene.
