General Manager — South Philadelphia Tap Room
South Philadelphia Tap Room is a long-standing neighborhood restaurant and bar known for thoughtful food, a curated beverage program, and warm, attentive hospitality.
We’re part of a small group of independent venues — each with its own identity — but all sharing a deep commitment to hospitality, creativity, and community. We value autonomy, collaboration, and treating people with respect.
We’re looking for a hands-on General Manager to lead the FOH team, drive sales, and ensure steady, consistent operations. This role reports directly to the Director of Operations and works closely with the Chef and kitchen leadership.
What You’ll Be Responsible For
Leadership & Guest Experience
- Leading all FOH day-to-day operations and working closely with the Chef to oversee BOH operations
- Driving sales through strong floor presence, guest engagement, events, and effective use of social channels
- Coaching staff, maintaining standards, and supporting a healthy team culture
Operational Management
- Building and maintaining FOH schedules, while overseeing BOH schedules for proper coverage and labor control
- Managing weekly liquor/beer/wine inventories and placing orders
- Receiving deliveries, verifying invoices, and ensuring proper product storage and documentation
- Maintaining POS menus and delivery-platform menus
- Monitoring facility needs and coordinating maintenance and repairs
Financial Oversight
- Tracking COGS and controllable costs
- Participating in weekly P&L reviews and implementing action items
Compliance & Administrative Responsibilities
- Ensuring compliance with PLCB, Labor, and Health Department regulations
- Maintaining ServSafe Food Manager + RAMP Manager certifications (or willing to obtain)

Financial & Administrative Acumen
- Able to monitor costs, understand P&L drivers, and act on trends
- Detail-oriented with invoices, delivery checks, and POS accuracy
Communication & Problem-Solving
- A polished communicator who is clear, direct, and reliable
- A proactive problem-solver who anticipates issues and handles them without drama
Requirements
- At least 3 years proven experience in restaurant or bar management with strong FOH leadership
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with BOH leadership
- Solid track record of managing labor, inventory, and daily operations
- Comfortable reviewing P&Ls, monitoring costs, and making data-informed decisions
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
- Experience with POS systems and delivery platforms
- ServSafe Food Manager + RAMP Manager certifications, or willingness to obtain
- Reliable availability for daytime, evening, and weekend shifts
