Job Title: GI/Liver Pathologist Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled and highly knowledgeable GI/Liver Pathologist to join our medical team. This role involves examining tissue samples, diagnosing diseases related to the gastrointestinal (GI) system and liver, and providing expert pathology insights for patient care. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in pathology, particularly in GI and liver diseases, and will be adept at collaborating with multidisciplinary teams in a fast-paced, high-volume environment. Key Responsibilities: Examine, analyze, and interpret biopsies, resections, and other tissue samples related to the gastrointestinal tract, liver, pancreas, and associated structures. Provide accurate, timely, and clinically relevant diagnoses for a variety of GI and liver conditions, including but not limited to inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), colorectal cancer, liver cirrhosis, hepatitis, and liver transplantation. Utilize advanced diagnostic tools, including molecular pathology and immunohistochemistry, to support diagnosis and treatment decisions. Collaborate with gastroenterologists, hepatologists, surgeons, and other clinicians to discuss findings and offer expert consultations on patient care and management. Participate in multidisciplinary tumor board meetings and other clinical conferences. Contribute to academic and research initiatives related to gastrointestinal and liver pathology, with the opportunity to publish and present findings. Keep abreast of the latest developments in GI and liver pathology, attending relevant conferences and continuing medical education (CME) events. Ensure accurate documentation of all findings and maintain patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA and institutional guidelines. Assist in training residents, fellows, and other trainees in the interpretation of GI and liver pathology. Education and Qualifications: Medical Degree (MD, DO) or equivalent from an accredited institution. Board Certification in Pathology (AP or CP). Fellowship training in GI/Liver Pathology or equivalent subspecialty training is preferred. Board certification or eligibility in GI/Liver Pathology is highly desirable. Licensed or eligible for licensure to practice medicine in the relevant state. Work Experience Requirements: Minimum of 3 years of experience as a practicing pathologist, with substantial exposure to gastrointestinal and liver pathology. Experience working with advanced diagnostic tools, including molecular and immunohistochemistry techniques. Proven track record of collaborating with multidisciplinary teams in a clinical setting. Experience in teaching or mentoring medical residents and fellows is a plus. Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively interact with clinical teams and patients. Desired Skills and Abilities: Exceptional diagnostic skills in gastrointestinal and liver pathology. Knowledge of cutting-edge technologies in molecular pathology and how they apply to GI/liver diseases. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle high-volume case loads. Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain a high standard of accuracy in all diagnoses. Interest in academic research and clinical trials related to gastrointestinal and liver diseases. Proficiency in the use of pathology software and electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
