Packaging Technician I

Location: Healdsburg, CA

Reports to: Packaging Supervisor

Job Summary

The Packaging Technician I operates within the packaging team (Tech I, Tech II, Lead, and Supervisor) to perform supporting tasks that contribute to canning and kegging operations within the Production Department. Additional tasks may be assigned as needed based on business priorities.


Job Responsibilities

  • Stage packaging dry goods for use on packaging equipment
  • Visually inspect finished goods for quality defects or abnormalities and ensure all finished products meet visual quality standards
  • Monitor and operate packaging equipment, communicating abnormalities or maintenance needs to appropriate personnel
  • Palletize finished cased goods and prepare pallets for shipment, including strapping, stretch wrapping, and labeling
  • Operate kegging equipment to clean, fill, and palletize kegged products
  • Handle, organize, and count dunnage materials
  • Operate forklift and pallet jack to move loads within the facility
  • Safely handle and use pressurized gasses
  • Assist with packaging equipment preventative maintenance (PM)
  • Maintain a clean and orderly cidery and warehouse environment
  • Operate pressure washer to clean cidery floors and tank exteriors
  • Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and maintain safe work practices


Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience in a cidery, winery, or brewery preferred, but not required
  • High school diploma, GED, or two years of work-related experience
  • Forklift certification a plus, but not required
  • Ability to work flexible shifts, including extended hours, weekends, and overtime as needed
  • Strong reading, writing, and mathematical skills
  • Demonstrated ability to follow directions and communicate effectively with team members
  • Proven work ethic and ability to manage multiple tasks
  • Commitment to excellence and producing high-quality products


Work Environment & Physical Requirements


Work Environment
The work environment is that of a beverage production facility. Employees may regularly work around hazardous materials, alcohol, high-voltage equipment, hot water, and pressurized gasses. Floors and equipment may be wet. Maintaining a clean, sanitary workspace is essential.


Physical Requirements

  • Frequently sit, stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and climb
  • Frequently talk, hear, feel, taste, and smell
  • Frequently lift or move up to 55 lbs., and occasionally maneuver up to 165 lbs. along the ground or floor
  • Frequently reach with hands and arms
  • Work on platform ladders up to 20 feet high
  • Vision requirements include close, distance, and adjustable focus
