CSPNJ, a mental health nonprofit agency, is looking for a temporary full-time Grant Accountant. **This position is a 2-year contract. Under the direction of the Controller, the Grant Accountant is responsible for the financial management of grants and contracts from federal, state, local, and private funding sources. This position ensures compliance with funder requirements, supports grant budgeting and reporting, tracks expenditures, and collaborates with program and development staff to ensure proper stewardship of funds.


HIGHLIGHTS

  • Review grant agreements and understand the specific requirements, deliverables, and reporting expectations. 
  • Monitor grant budgets, expenditures, and receivables to ensure alignment with grantor restrictions.
  • Collaborate with program managers to forecast grant spending.
  • Manage grant billing, drawdowns, and accounts receivable tracking.

 Full-time | Benefit Eligible (Medical, free DMO dental & free vision) including 6 weeks PTO & 11 Holidays 

Requirements:
  • MUST have a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • 3–5 years of experience in grant accounting, preferably in a nonprofit or governmental environment.
  • Experience with federal and state grants and understanding of OMB Uniform Guidance (2 CFR Part 200) is preferred.
  • Knowledge of nonprofit accounting standards, including fund accounting and grant compliance.
  • Experience with financial software systems and advanced Excel skills.
  • High level of attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with people at all levels and in cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to work with individuals with mental illness in a caring and professional manner.
  • Valid NJ Driver’s License with acceptable driving record.
  • Lived Experience: CSPNJ prioritizes hiring people who use their own life experience dealing with mental health/substance use issues to inspire and support others.
