Advertised Job Summary:

The University of South Carolina College of Nursing invites applications for a Health Sciences Endowed Professor position. We are seeking a distinguished nurse scientist with a robust research portfolio in maternal child health. This role offers a unique opportunity to lead and expand the Perinatal, Pediatrics, and Family Research Center (PPFRC), contributing to our mission to advance health outcomes for women, children, and families through innovative research, education, and community engagement.

Position Highlights:The successful candidate will receive endowment support, a competitive start-up package, and access to USC’s vibrant interprofessional research community, including the College of Nursing’s two other dynamic research centers:

  • Cancer Survivorship Research Center
  • Center for Advancing Chronic Care Outcomes through Research and Innovation (ACORN)

Additionally, the newly approved USC Collaborative for Health Equity and Disparities will be administered within the College of Nursing, further enhancing opportunities for impactful research.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Propel scholarly innovation and produce a sustained record of research in maternal and child health.
  • Maintain a successful record of federal funding (R01 or equivalent).
  • Lead interdisciplinary research initiatives, fostering partnerships with USC faculty, clinical affiliates, and community organizations.
  • Mentor faculty and attract high-caliber students to elevate the College’s research profile.
  • Pursue external funding through private, governmental, and foundation grants.
  • Enhance the college’s reputation through exemplary research, academic leadership, and student engagement.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Doctorate in nursing, with qualifications for tenure at the rank of professor.
  • Proven research record relevant to maternal child health.
  • Established history of federal funding at R01 or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated leadership in building and managing a research enterprise.
  • Commitment to teaching excellence and a vision to enhance the College’s national prominence.
