Job Summary

Express Employment Professionals is seeking experienced Heavy Equipment Operators for placement with top-tier civil construction and infrastructure contractors in the Jefferson Parish area. Ideal candidates will have hands-on experience in earthwork, utility installation, and heavy civil construction projects, with the ability to operate a wide range of heavy equipment safely and efficiently.

Operators will work on projects including road and bridge construction, levee and flood protection systems, drainage and utility installation, and site development. This position offers competitive pay, long-term employment potential, and opportunities for advancement.

Key Responsibilities

• Safely operate heavy equipment including excavators, bulldozers, loaders, backhoes, and rollers on civil construction projects.
• Perform earthmoving operations: grading, cut/fill, compaction, embankment, and site preparation.
• Install underground utilities such as water, sewer, and storm drain piping (PVC, ductile iron, and RCP).
• Support pile driving operations (sheet, H, concrete, and timber piles) for retaining walls and bridge foundations.
• Read and interpret blueprints, plans, and grade stakes; work with GPS and laser control systems to achieve precise grades.
• Assist in concrete and structural work, including foundations, slabs, flood walls, and headwalls.
• Conduct daily equipment inspections, perform minor maintenance, and report mechanical issues promptly.
• Work collaboratively with site supervisors, engineers, and crew members to maintain production goals and a safety-first environment.
• Participate in emergency response and debris removal operations as needed (post-storm or disaster recovery work).

Required Skills & Experience

• 3+ years of experience operating heavy construction equipment in site development, road, or utility work.
• Proven ability to operate multiple types of equipment (dozers, excavators, loaders, backhoes, etc.) across various size classes.
• Knowledge of construction safety standards and equipment maintenance procedures.
• Ability to read plans, grades, and layout drawings; GPS experience preferred.
• Strong teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• NCCER Heavy Equipment Operator Certification (Level 1 or 2 preferred)
• OSHA 10 or 30-Hour Construction Safety Certification
• TWIC Card and/or Confined Space Entry Certification
• CDL Class A License (clean driving record)
• CPR/First Aid Certification

• Bulldozers: Cat D3-D8, John Deere 550K-850K, Komatsu D39-D85
• Excavators: Cat 320-349, Deere 160G-350G, Komatsu PC138-PC490
• Loaders: Cat 938M-966M, Komatsu WA270-WA380, Deere 544K-624K
• Pile Driving Support: APE, ICE, Berminghammer systems
• Other Equipment: Skid Steers, Rollers, Off-Road Trucks
