Cal-Ore is seeking an HR Manager to support the daily operations of the Human Resources department and ensures the effective delivery of HR programs and services. This role is responsible for a broad range of HR functions, including recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, benefits administration, performance management, compliance, and HR recordkeeping. Ideal candidate is a hands-on, people-focused professional who can balance administrative accuracy with a proactive, service-oriented approach.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer and coordinate day-to-day HR functions, including payroll changes, benefits, leave tracking, and employee file maintenance.
- Support full-cycle recruitment: job postings, applicant screening, interviews, background checks, and new hire onboarding.
- Serve as the first point of contact for employee questions on HR policies, benefits, and company programs.
- Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws (e.g., FLSA, FMLA, ADA, OSHA, and California-specific labor laws).
- Coordinate benefit enrollments, open enrollment, and assist with vendor communications.
- Support employee performance management and engagement initiatives, including reviews, recognition programs, and corrective actions.
- Assist with HR data reporting, metrics, and audits.
- Update and maintain personnel files and documentation in accordance with company policy and legal requirements.
- Participate in employee relations investigations and help implement corrective or coaching measures as needed.
- Contribute to policy updates, handbook revisions, and HR process improvements.
Qualifications
- Experience: 25 years of progressive HR experience; generalist or HR coordinator background strongly preferred.
- Certifications: SHRM-CP or PHR certification preferred (not required).
- Skills:
- Working knowledge of HR best practices, employment law.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a high level of confidentiality.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
Work Environment
- Office-based position with occasional travel for training or recruitment events.
- May require flexibility for occasional evening or weekend company events.
