Position Summary

The HVAC Apprentice supports journeyman/lead technicians with installation, service, and maintenance of residential/light commercial HVAC systems. This entry-level role learns safe work practices, tools, codes, and company standards while building toward independent technician responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with installing, servicing, and maintaining HVAC equipment (split systems, RTUs, furnaces, heat pumps, mini-splits, ventilation).

  • Stage materials, load/unload, set equipment, hang duct, braze/copper prep, pull wire/low-voltage, and seal/insulate per spec.

  • Perform basic diagnostics with guidance (temps/pressures, filter changes, coil cleaning, belt/drive checks).

  • Follow safety procedures (LOTO, ladders, PPE) and maintain clean, organized job sites and vehicles.

  • Use mobile/PM tools to document work orders, parts, photos, and time accurately.

  • Support start-ups, punch lists, and warranty callbacks with a senior tech.

  • Communicate professionally with customers, GCs, and team members; escalate issues promptly.

  • Participate in training; study codes, OEM literature, and standard operating procedures.

Qualifications
  • 0–2+ years HVAC experience (trade school, internships, or related mechanical experience a plus).

  • Basic mechanical aptitude; familiarity with hand/power tools and measuring devices.

  • Willingness to learn brazing, recovery/charging, airflow, and low-voltage controls under supervision.

  • Ability to read simple drawings, wiring diagrams, and follow written/verbal instructions.

  • Safety-first mindset; reliable attendance and teamwork.

  • Physical ability to lift 50–75 lbs, work on ladders/roofs, in attics/confined spaces, and in varying weather.

  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable MVR; ability to pass background/drug screen.

  • Nice to have: EPA 608 (Type I/II/Universal), OSHA-10, trade-school certificate, NATE/ICE in progress.
