IBM i Series Power Systems Programmer

SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
Reviews, analyzes, and modifies programming systems including encoding, testing, debugging, and installing to support an organization's business applications. Gathers requirements from users and creates specifications and develops code. Designs and writes codes to support existing application.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Collaborate with IT team, management, supervisors, and clients to provide technical direction of systems analysis, design, development, testing and deployment.
  • Facilitate code reviews, software design sessions and architectural reviews.
  • Analyze, write, code and test software programs and applications.
  • Research, design document and modify software specifications throughout the production life cycle.
  • Troubleshoot and fix software and application related issues in a timely and accurate fashion.
  • Provide strong leadership and problem-solving skills and possess the ability to multitask and thrive in flexible and changing environments.
  • Provide status reports and analysis documentation where required.
  • Proactively learn and utilize new technologies, concepts, and procedures as appropriate to project requirements.
OTHER FUNCTIONS: Individual must possess strong interpersonal skills and business/technical oral and written communication skills. Requires exceptional problem-solving skills and s/he must be organized and efficient in the work area.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Must have the ability to sit at a desk and in front of a computer for long periods of time. Physical presence in office is required. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. Must have the ability to handle stress. The employee is occasionally required to sit, stand and walk; use hands to finger, handle and feel; and reach with hands and arms. Specific vision abilities required by this job include appropriate vision needed to read a computer screen, paper forms and correspondence.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
  • Five years experience on iSeries including security considerations and operating system install and ptf application.
  • Minimum of 3 years experience with IL RPG and RPG free format expertise.
  • WDSc and/or Rational tools experience required.
  • Traditional green screen developer experience SEU, DFU, database DDS, screen DDS, subfiles, and printing support.
  • BRMS or other back-up and recovery software exposure.
  • Windows server exposure.
  • Accounting applications programming experience, and Credit Card Processing.
  • Experience with industry standard design patterns and ability to utilize and apply best practices.
  • Database design and management experience.
  • SQL stored procedures, UDTFs, and API web service calls.
OTHER FUNCTIONS: Individual must possess strong interpersonal skills and business/technical oral and written communication skills. Requires exceptional problem-solving skills and s/he must be organized and efficient in the work area.
REQUIRED EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree; four to six years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Technical Lead experience preferred.
