Position Summary:

The Journeyman Electrician is responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical systems, equipment, and components in an industrial or commercial environment. This role requires strong technical expertise, attention to detail, and a commitment to safety and efficiency. The ideal candidate has proven experience interpreting electrical schematics, working with high- and low-voltage systems, and ensuring compliance with all applicable electrical codes and safety standards.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Install, maintain, and repair electrical wiring, fixtures, and equipment in accordance with NEC (National Electrical Code) and company standards.
  • Troubleshoot electrical systems to identify hazards, defects, or needed repairs; make recommendations for corrective action.
  • Inspect and test electrical systems, ensuring proper functionality and compliance with safety regulations.
  • Install and maintain motors, control panels, PLC systems, transformers, lighting systems, and power distribution equipment.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and electrical inspections on industrial machinery and building systems.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to plan and execute work efficiently.
  • Work collaboratively with maintenance, engineering, and production teams to minimize downtime.
  • Ensure all work is performed safely, adhering to lockout/tagout procedures, PPE requirements, and OSHA guidelines.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance, repairs, and parts usage in the CMMS system.
  • Train and mentor apprentices or junior electricians as needed.


Qualifications:

  • Valid Journeyman Electrician License (state-issued).
  • 5+ years of electrical experience, preferably in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical theory, codes, and practices.
  • Experience with control systems, VFDs, PLCs (Allen-Bradley or Siemens preferred), and industrial automation.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair complex electrical and electronic systems.
  • Proficient in reading and understanding electrical drawings and technical manuals.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Must be able to work independently or as part of a team, with minimal supervision.
  • Willingness to work overtime, weekends, or on-call as needed.


Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in confined spaces or at elevated heights.
  • Stand, climb, and bend for extended periods as required.
  • Work safely around high-voltage equipment and in various environmental conditions.


Preferred Skills (Not Required):

  • Experience with industrial automation and control wiring.
  • Knowledge of electrical estimating, conduit bending, and panel building.
  • Familiarity with NFPA 70E safety standards.
  • Previous experience mentoring apprentices or leading small electrical teams.
