Industrial Maintenance Technician - Electro-Mechanical & PLC Systems at Frito-Lay
Job Description
Job Description
You clock in, scan the work orders, and head to a packaging line reporting a fault. A 480V three-phase motor trips; you isolate the circuit, pull out the volt-ohm and amp meters, and confirm the issue with an oscilloscope. Later, you rebuild a positive displacement pump, replace a control valve on a pneumatic circuit, and finish the shift mentoring an entry-level tech through a PLC input fault. You close out tasks in our work order system and line up parts for tomorrow’s preventative maintenance.
What You’ll Work On- Troubleshoot, install, and repair pneumatic and hydraulic systems, control valves, and both centrifugal and positive displacement pumps.
- Diagnose and repair AC/DC electrical systems; read and interpret electrical schematics; use test equipment (volt-ohm meter, amp meter, oscilloscope).
- Apply strong knowledge of Programmable Logic Controls for machine troubleshooting and optimization; leverage preventative maintenance systems and work order tracking.
- Work across the facility on any equipment; operate lathes, mills, and perform arc and Heliarc® welding for repair and fabrication.
- Respond with urgency to maintenance calls, including assisting with in-progress repairs to restore production quickly.
- Inspect equipment, build repair lists, and prioritize short- and long-term fixes to maximize efficiency, effectiveness, and reliability.
- Support and coach entry-level mechanics through complex diagnostics and repairs while maintaining safety and quality.
- Deep expertise with high-voltage wiring, specifically 480V three-phase motors.
- True multi-craft capability across electrical and mechanical disciplines.
- Customer-focused communicators who partner well with teammates at every level.
- Flexible problem-solvers who can shift priorities and keep calm under pressure.
- Self-starters who take ownership when working independently on PMs and breakdowns.
- Safety-first pros who follow procedures to protect people, equipment, and product quality.
- 18 years of age or older.
- Willing to work weekends and holidays.
- Lift 15 to 50 lbs, stand/walk for long periods, and climb, bend, reach, stoop, kneel, and stretch for extended periods, with or without a reasonable accommodation.
- Comfort working around extreme temperatures, humidity, loud/hazardous equipment, and slippery surfaces.
- PLC Troubleshooting Skills
- Electrical Schematics
- PLC Wiring Experience
Before an in-person interview, you will complete a hands-on electrical skills test. If you’re still building experience, consider applying to one of our entry-level roles to grow into this position.
