Initiatives/Projects: Next Generation Analytic & Big Data Platform Industry background: : Software Engineering side – managed image creation, worked through CDIC pipeline Team Dynamic: Currently a team of 10 – All sr level engineers Would not be working on day to day activities, working on a project role for a new application Roles and Responsibilities: • Will be the Apache Iceberg SME • Designing the environment • Building the steps to implement new solution • Moving from Hadoop to the new open source software Must Have Technical Skills: Level 4 – 6+ years (will not have this with Apache Iceberg as it is newer) • Open Source Development • Open Source Software • Data Formats: Apache Iceberg, Parquet, ORC • Catalogs: JDBC, Nessie, Polaris • Programming Languages: Python, Scala, Java • Data Processing Frameworks: Spark, Trino, Flink • Databases: SQL, NoSQL (e.g., Cassandra, DynamoDB) • Workflow Orchestration: Apache Airflow, Apache Kafka Education/Certifications: No – experience in lieu of degree Screening Questions: • A concise paragraph summarizing your experience and skills related to Apache Iceberg and data engineering. • Highlight your expertise in handling large datasets, data pipelines, and cloud-based data solutions. • Describe your previous roles and responsibilities, focusing on projects where you utilized Apache Iceberg or related technologies.
