Job Description
Jewelry Designer
About the Position:
As a jewelry designer, you’ll be working directly with clients to understand their ideas, capturing those ideas on paper via sketches, and then collaborating with the Darvier production team to bring the client’s vision to life. Unique design sensibilities are a plus! As technical jewelry engineering is a core part of this job, experience working with and understanding precious metals, diamonds and gemstones, stone setting, finishing constraints, and jewelry repairs is required.
What you’ll do (Job Responsibilities):
- Meet directly with clients both in person and virtually, working to understand their vision.
- Synthesize client ideas, design experience, and jewelry best practices to create a design concept that is beautiful, wearable, and durable.
- Sketch custom designs clearly and to-scale, using both paper and digital methods. Technical drawing skills are a plus.
- Educate clients in the properties of various precious metals, gemstones, and diamonds, to help guide them towards the best fit for their piece.
- Collaborate with the production team and our in-house metalsmiths to bring jewelry to life.
- Stay in contact with clients throughout the design process, building lasting relationships through excellent communication and follow-up.
- Manage a roster of multiple projects and custom jobs concurrently.
- Close sales effectively to contribute to overall store success.
- Contribute to setup and breakdown of product displays in our showroom, as well as a few light, shared tidying tasks.
- Stay up-to-date on jewelry trends, materials, and manufacturing technology.
What We’re Looking For (Requirements):
- Proven jewelry industry experience
- Drawing experience, including skills visualizing 3D objects and translating them into 2D.
- A creative and innovative eye for design
- A collaborative mindset that excels as a team player
- Excellent communication skills with both clients and our in-house team.
- Openness to constructive feedback and client revisions.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize duties between several projects.
- Must be able to reasonably commute to our studio in Fort Collins, Colorado. This is not a Remote or Hybrid position.
- Full time in-person schedule, 10:30-6:30 Tuesday-Saturday. Please note that Saturdays are required.
- Familiarity with jewelry design software (e.g., Rhino, MatrixGold, or similar jewelry-based platforms) is a plus but not required.
Compensation & Benefits:
- Starting pay of $22.50-$30.50 an hour depending on experience, not including daily sales performance bonuses.
- Benefits: Paid vacation, paid sick leave, health insurance, retirement savings (Roth IRA)
- Perks: Employee pricing on jewelry, access to our metalsmithing workshop facilities, and access to our storefront to display and sell your own designs
