Job Description
A nonprofit organization in New York City is currently seeking a dedicated and compassionate professional to join one of their growing men's shelters in Brooklyn as a Job Developer.
About the Opportunity:
- Start Date: ASAP
- Schedule: Sun, Mon, Tue and Thursday 9am-5pm Wednesday's 11am-7pm
- Setting: Men's Shelter
Responsibilities:
- Research and regularly initiate contact with potential employers daily, obtaining as much information on open positions as possible.
- Research and stay current on labor market information, economic data, and hiring trends to creatively target and develop emerging opportunities.
- Provide client support in tailoring resumes and cover letters, coaching for in-demand adaptive soft skills acquisition, conducting mock interviews, and assisting with job applications.
- Offer one-on-one coaching and conduct group job preparation sessions to increase client employability.
- Prepare and maintain accurate, complete narrative documentation of client progress and employer relationships at each point of contact, including resumes, interviews, employer feedback, and placement/retention data for required reports (weekly, monthly, quarterly, annual).
- Maintain all client and employer records in computerized tracking systems in compliance with agency and funder requirements.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree or 2 years of experience
- First Aid / CPR certification
Desired Skills:
- Bilingual
- Certification in Overdose Prevention
- Previous experience in a Shelter setting
