Job Purpose / Summary
The Journeyman Industrial Electrician at Quality “Plus” Services will install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electrical systems and equipment in large industrial facilities. This role ensures safe, reliable performance of all electrical infrastructure, aligning with company standards, local and national codes, and best practices. The Journeyman will collaborate with maintenance, operations, and engineering teams to support production and facility improvement projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, maintain, and repair industrial electrical systems including wiring, conduit, fixtures, motors, transformers, switchgear, and distribution panels.
- Read, interpret, and work from blueprints, schematics, P&ID diagrams, one-line drawings, and wiring diagrams.
- Troubleshoot electrical and control issues, diagnosing problems and performing corrective actions.
- Perform preventive maintenance to minimize downtime.
- Terminate and splice wiring, install feeders, pull wires, bend conduit, mount & align electrical equipment.
- Install, set up, and calibrate control panels; assist with programming / troubleshooting PLCs, VFDs, and motor control circuits.
- Ensure compliance with NEC, OSHA, NFPA 70E, local codes, and Quality “Plus” Services safety policies.
- Participate in lock-out/tag-out (LOTO) procedures; maintain required PPE, enforce safety best practices.
- Respond to emergency electrical failures as needed (on-call, after hours, weekends).
- Maintain accurate documentation: maintenance logs, repair records, parts & materials used, time sheets.
- Coordinate with other trades, contractors, and departments; mentor and assist less experienced electricians if required.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Valid Journeyman Electrician License in the State of Texas (or must be able to obtain).
- Minimum 3-5 years of industrial electrical experience: installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting in industrial settings.
- Solid knowledge of electrical theory: AC/DC circuits, three-phase power, motor control, transformers, switchgear.
- Experience reading blueprints, wiring diagrams, one-line drawings.
- Knowledge of PLCs, VFDs, instrumentation preferred.
- Skilled in conduit bending, wire pulling, and use of electrical tools.
- Strong understanding of safety protocols: LOTO, arc flash, PPE, confined space where applicable.
- Physically capable of lifting up to 50 lbs (or more with assistance), climbing ladders, working in confined spaces, and tolerating industrial environment conditions.
- Valid driver’s license with reliable transportation.
- Strong problem solving, good communication, ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Working Conditions
- Typical shifts may be first, second, or third; shift differential may apply.
- Overtime, weekend work, or on-call availability could be required depending on operational needs.
- Industrial environment: noise, dust, heat, exposure to chemicals, heights, confined spaces.
- Both indoor and outdoor work.
- Must use proper PPE (hardhat, safety glasses, gloves, steel-toed boots, arc flash protection, etc.).
