Job Description

Position: Kitchen Lead

Location: FROTH + Bunker (shared kitchen inside The Duncan – Chicago, IL)

Schedule: Mid-shift coverage (10am-6pm), with crossover into both breakfast and dinner service (weekends required)

Compensation: $21-24/hr + tips, plus benefits & amenities

FROTH is coffee with a cocktail mindset. Bunker is your neighborhood bar with a killer patio and solid food. Both run out of the same kitchen, and we’re hiring one strong Kitchen Lead to help guide the team — someone who can cook, train, and build systems that last.

This is a working leadership role — perfect for someone with strong line experience who’s ready to help elevate the kitchen from the inside out.

What You’ll Do:

  • Work mid-shifts that overlap with day and evening service

  • Cook on the line during service — you’re leading by example

  • Ensure smooth handoffs between the AM and PM teams

  • Collaborate with managers on SOPs, food safety practices, and kitchen systems

  • Train and support line cooks and prep staff in recipe execution and technique

  • Maintain a clean, efficient kitchen space using Chicago health standards

  • Help keep the kitchen organized, stocked, and running like a tight ship

What We’re Looking For:

  • 3+ years of experience in a fast-paced kitchen, with some leadership or trainer experience

  • Skilled line cook who’s fast, clean, and consistent

  • Strong communication skills — can coach without ego

  • Proficient in Spanish or comfortable using a translation app to facilitate kitchen communication

  • Able to document, reinforce, and uphold SOPs and systems

  • Comfortable working solo when needed, but also great on a team

  • Food Handler Manager Certification required (City of Chicago)
