Kitchen Supervisor (Sunday-Wednesday: 7:00am-5:30pm)
The Rescue Mission is seeking a Full Time Shift Supervisor to work in the Food Service Department. This position is required to rotate weekend coverage every other week. The Food Services Shift Supervisor facilitates the service of meals by supervising assigned staff and volunteers to prepare the kitchen and dining room, to ready the food prepared by the Production Cook, assists with meal preparation, coordinates the service line, and oversees cleanup.
Additional Duties:
The position supports the Director of Food Services in overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Food Services Center, ensuring smooth and efficient service delivery. This role is responsible for fostering a welcoming and customer-focused atmosphere in the kitchen, dining room, and service line. Duties include assisting with food preparation in accordance with standard recipes and dietary requirements, as well as preparing and managing large-scale meal service using Cook-Chill technology. The position also supervises Kitchen Assistants and volunteers, providing training, coaching, and direction on daily tasks and responsibilities. Close communication is maintained with the Director of Food Services and Production Cook to ensure food quality and quantity standards are met, and coordination with the Food School Supervisor ensures successful meal service execution. The role requires strict adherence to food safety protocols and Department of Health regulations, while also promoting a culture of safety by modeling best practices and enforcing safety procedures. Regular and predictable in-person attendance is essential, and the role may include other duties as assigned.
Requirements & Education:
Associate's degree in restaurant/food management required; bachelor's degree preferred and/or five-year experience in restaurant/food management
Experience with institutional-size food preparation equipment and safety procedures
Experience with inventory control

Rate of Pay:
Starting Pay rate $20.00 per hour

- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook

- Possession of a valid New York State Driver's License in good standing
