Laboratory Manager at Atrium Staffing

Our client is a prestigious Health and Wellness clinic looking to add a Laboratory Manager to their team.

Salary/Hourly Rate:
$130k - $140k DOE

Position Overview:
We are looking for a hands-on, experienced Laboratory Manager to lead day-to-day operations at a busy clinical lab in Manhattan. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys mentoring a team, and is passionate about delivering high-quality patient care through accurate and efficient lab testing. You will oversee a range of testing from simple (waived) to moderately complex assays while ensuring compliance with CLIA and NYS DoH regulations. You will also manage lab staff, maintain equipment, and collaborate with Clinical teams to ensure smooth operations and top-tier service.

Responsibilities of the Laboratory Manager:

• Lead and supervise lab operations, ensuring compliance and safety.
• Manage and train lab personnel, including Medical Assistants and Licensed Practical Nurses.
• Perform and oversee waived and moderate complexity testing.
• Maintain quality control programs and resolve technical issues.
• Ensure instruments are calibrated, maintained, and functioning properly.
• Handle documentation, audits, and regulatory reporting.
• Collaborate with clinical teams to improve workflows and sample quality.
• Monitor inventory and coordinate with purchasing and finance.
• Conduct performance reviews and manage staff schedules.
• Drive continuous quality improvement across lab operations.

Required Experience/Skills for the Laboratory Manager:

• 7+ years of experience in a CLIA-certified high complexity lab, especially in Hematology and Chemistry.
• Familiarity with waived and moderate complexity testing.
• Strong background in phlebotomy and patient-facing care.
• Experience with documentation, audits, and regulatory compliance.
• Skilled in problem-solving using RCA, CAPA, and change management.
• Solid understanding of lab workflows, LIMS, and EMR systems.

Preferred Experience/Skills for the Laboratory Manager:

• Excellent communication and leadership skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively.

Education Requirements:

• NYS Clinical Laboratory Technologist license (or ability to obtain) is required.
• ASCP or similar certification is preferred.
• Bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences, Chemistry, Clinical Science, or a related field is required.
