Labor, Employment & Workplace Safety Associate
Location: Los Angeles, CA (Remote flexibility for CA-barred attorneys)
Salary: $210,000 – $365,000 + Bonus & Full Benefits

Direct Counsel is representing an AmLaw 100 firm seeking an experienced Associate Attorney to join its Labor, Employment & Workplace Safety (LEWS) practice in the firm’s Los Angeles office. This is an outstanding opportunity to join a top-tier practice and work on a broad range of high-level employment litigation and advisory matters.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Handle complex employment litigation, including:

    • Wage & hour class actions

    • PAGA claims

    • Single-plaintiff discrimination, harassment, and retaliation cases

  • Draft and review employment documents such as:

    • Offer letters, employment and separation agreements

    • Handbooks and workplace policies

  • Advise on labor and employment issues in the context of corporate transactions, including mergers and acquisitions

  • Optional: Support traditional labor relations matters (experience a plus, not required)

  • Engage directly with clients and work collaboratively with senior attorneys on case strategy and management


Requirements:
  • 4–7 years of relevant employment litigation experience

  • Active California Bar membership (remote candidates within California or willing to relocate will be considered)

  • Exceptional legal research, writing, and advocacy skills

  • Strong academic credentials from an accredited law school

  • Self-motivated with the ability to work both independently and in a team setting

  • Commitment to providing top-tier client service in a fast-paced, collaborative environment
