DELAND AREA Community has immediate opening for GROUNDS MAINTENANCE Person.

This is a permanent full time maintenance position. Lawn & sprinklers experience a plus.

Grounds Maintenance Worker

Job Summary:

The Grounds Maintenance Worker is responsible for ensuring the upkeep, appearance, and functionality of outdoor spaces, including lawns, gardens, pathways, and other landscaped areas. This role involves routine landscaping, minor repairs, and ensuring the safety and cleanliness of the grounds.

Key Responsibilities:

• Landscaping and Gardening:
• Mow, edge, and trim lawns, bushes, and trees.
• Plant, weed, and water flowers, shrubs, and trees.
• Apply fertilizers, pesticides, and herbicides as needed.
• Maintenance and Repairs:
• Maintain and repair irrigation systems.
• Clean and maintain pathways, parking lots, and outdoor fixtures.
• Remove debris, leaves, and litter from the grounds.
• Perform minor repairs to fences, benches, and other outdoor structures.
• Equipment Handling:
• Operate and maintain groundskeeping tools such as mowers, trimmers, blowers, and tractors.
• Inspect and ensure tools and equipment are in good working condition.
• Safety and Compliance:
• Adhere to all safety guidelines and procedures.
• Report any hazards, damages, or necessary repairs promptly.

Qualifications:

• Previous experience in landscaping or grounds maintenance is an asset.
• Basic knowledge of landscaping tools, equipment, and techniques.
• Physical ability to lift heavy objects, bend, and work outdoors in various weather conditions.

Skills:

• Attention to detail and pride in creating well-maintained spaces.
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
• Time management and organizational skills.
• Basic mechanical aptitude for equipment maintenance.

Work Environment:

• Outdoor work in varying weather conditions.
• Frequent use of landscaping tools and equipment.
