Protective is hiring a benefits administrator to administer Protective's leave of absence programs and health and welfare benefits. Reporting to the VP, Head of Compensation and Benefits, the successful candidate will play an important role in coordinating Protective's leave and benefit programs.
Responsibilities:
- Serves as the subject matter expert for the leave of absence program in alignment and under the general direction and guidance of HR leadership and the legal department.
- Interprets and administers leave programs and policies in accordance with the applicable federal and state employment laws.
- Works in partnership with a third-party absence management vendor and internal payroll department to ensure each leave case is managed correctly, communication to employee and manager is proactive, and employee receives accurate pay per applicable disability and time away policies.
- Assists with administration of benefit programs related to health and welfare benefits, including medical, dental and vision insurance, company provided life insurance, optional life insurance, voluntary benefits, and long-term disability. Serves as a contact with the vendors of these benefit programs.
- Administrative duties, including but not limited to, payroll reconciliation, vendor billing, COBRA and retiree insurance oversight, and benefit administration system management.
- May works with legal and facilities to make job accommodations for employees.
- Performs all other duties as assigned or required.
Job Requirements:
- An associate's degree in business administration, human resources or related field, Bachelor's degree, preferred
- 3-5 years of experience in Human Resources
- 2 years of experience in benefits administration and/or managing leave cases (FMLA, STD, ADA), preferred
- HR certification, preferred
Skills:
- Ability to analyze information and convert related activities into a comprehensive work plan
- Ability to communicate and make recommendations to upper management
- Ability to identify basic problems and procedural irregularities, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions
- Knowledge and ability to lead compliance efforts within a benefits department
- Ability to drive multiple projects
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities
- Demonstrated ability to deal with confidential information
- Demonstrated problem solving, time management and priority setting skills
- Expertise working with HRIS systems to run reports and manage employee data; experience with Ultimate Software a plus
- Knowledge of benefit administration programs
- Strong Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint skills
Protective's targeted salary range for this position is $62,000 to $90,000. Actual salaries may vary depending on factors, including but not limited to, job location, skills, and experience. The range listed is just one component of Protective's total compensation package for employees.
