Position Summary:

The Department of Physical Therapy in the School of Education and Health Sciences at North Central College is excited to invite applications for an ongoing, full-time Lecturer position in Physical Therapy. North Central College’s innovative Doctor of Physical Therapy Program is built on a liberal arts foundation to prepare physical therapists able to navigate the complexities of future healthcare systems with strong skills in movement science, relationship and patient/client-centered care, professionalism, communication, and technology, focused on the pursuit of excellence. Individuals who enjoy working collaboratively with others, enjoy working closely with students, and have an interest in being innovative in physical therapy education are encouraged to apply.

Based on contemporary expertise, the duties in this role may include:

  • Leading or assisting with classroom instruction in a variety of courses in the DPT Program. Teaching in other departments may be possible depending on the contemporary expertise of the faculty member.
  • Completing psychomotor assessments in and outside the classroom.
  • Supplementing student instruction outside the classroom.
  • Assisting with clinical education.
  • Assessing students’ work and providing detailed feedback on how to improve their content knowledge, critical thinking skills, oral and written communication skills, etc.
  • Maintaining a curriculum that is contemporary in physical therapy practice.
  • Mentoring DPT students on their journey to becoming excellent physical therapists.
  • Attending conferences and workshops as necessary to maintain contemporary expertise.
  • Performing other departmental duties and attending activities as necessary, including attending department meetings, participating in committees, and other events as required.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Earned clinical doctorate (DPT) from an accredited institution
  • Illinois physical therapist licensure or eligibility and intention to obtain physical therapist licensure in the state of Illinois

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Specialty certification in orthopedic physical therapy
  • Demonstrated excellence in teaching

Additional Information:

The budgeted salary range for this position is $80,000 to $85,000. The pay offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors including (but not limited to) the selected candidate’s experience and qualifications, including equivalent years in rank, training, and field or discipline; internal equity; and external market pay for comparable jobs.
