The CTeBH strives to increase access to evidence-based mental healthcare and is actively engaged in helping our field effectively deal with the lack of access that often force patients to travel long distances to obtain much needed mental health services or forgo such services altogether.
Job Duties:
The Center for Telepsychiatry and eBehavioral Health seeks a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), or Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC) for a full-time position providing clinical services in hospital emergency departments and/or outpatient clinics utilizing integrated care models that are affiliated with the North Carolina Statewide Telepsychiatry Program (NC-STeP).

This position is responsible for supporting and coordinating the mental and physical health care of patients on an assigned patient caseload with the patient’s medical provider and, when appropriate, other mental health providers. Services provided will include both in-person, as well as using telehealth platforms. Duties include, but are not limited to, providing assessment and care management services, including administration of validated rating scales, psychosocial interventions, behavioral health planning in relation to mental health problems, including revision of plans for patients who are not progressing or whose status changes, maintenance of the online patient registry, regular meetings with consulting psychiatrists, and ongoing collaboration with partner practitioners and our psychiatric care team.

Hospital emergency department side: This position will work closely with psychiatrists and advanced level providers in conducting patient clinical assessments for psychiatric consultations. This position will also work closely with psychiatry consultants to provide psychiatric evaluations including assessment of patients’ presenting problem(s), mental status examination, behavioral and social assessment, family dynamics and resources; biopsychosocial formulation and DSM diagnosis; crisis intervention; short-term therapy; independently triage and prioritize patients for disposition including hospitalization, emergency treatment, early appointment or routine appointment. There may be opportunities to participate in the teaching and clinical supervision of medical students, psychiatry residents, and other health professional trainees.

CLINICAL SUPPORT POSITION – NOT SUBJECT TO STATE HUMAN RESOURCES ACT.

The Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University is affiliated with ECU Health Medical Center, which serves as its teaching hospital, as well as the flagship hospital for ECU Health.

Employment in this position provides eligibility to participate in the UNC Optional Retirement Program (ORP) which offers matching employer contributions and employee control of investment choices, along with eligibility to participate in various Voluntary Supplemental Retirement Plans (401k, 403b, 457). This position is not eligible to participate in the NC Teachers’ and State Employees’ Retirement System (TSERS). Additionally, this position offers multiple voluntary options for Medical, Dental, Vision, and Life Insurance as well as various supplemental plans including Critical Illness, Flexible Spending Accounts, Cancer, and Disability.

While this position is not automatically eligible for the NC Teachers’ and State Employees’ Retirement System (TSERS), new hires transferring from another North Carolina state agency and current ECU employees transferring internally who had been enrolled in TSERS in their previous employment will continue participation in TSERS. These individuals may be able to elect to participate in ORP if they had not been offered that option at the time of their initial enrollment into TSERS.
