Join us and discover why Modern Healthcare Magazine named us in its “Top 100 Places to Work.” Med Surg Overview: Mercy Fort Smith’s Med Surg Service Line is made up of 8 specialty units that will provide experience with patient populations with a varying range of diagnoses and care needs. Functionally, these units house and care for patients who are preparing for or recovering from medical and surgical interventions. While you will have a “home unit”, we cross-train our nurses between the various specialties to provide a strong foundational knowledge of all types of patient conditions, comorbidities, procedures, etc. Whether you are a new grad nurse looking to build a strong base before launching into your future career/educational plans or an experienced nurse who enjoys variety in their every day work, Med Surg is the place for you! 5500 Oncology Overview: Patient Population: This unit serves patients diagnosed with cancer, blood disorders, and diabetes. It also provides care for terminally ill individuals and hospice respite patients. Unit Features: 23-bed capacity All 24 rooms equipped with cardiac telemetry Support amenities include a chapel, family sitting and dining areas, and a washer/dryer for family use Care Approach: The unit is dedicated to delivering close monitoring, skilled nursing care, and holistic, compassionate services tailored to patients with oncology and endocrinology diagnoses. Staffing Ratios: Nurse-to-patient ratio: 6:1 UAP-to-patient ratio: 8:1 Incentives: Stay Premium Program- up to $8/hour based on years of Mercy service Education Assistance Tuition Reimbursement $2,000 per year Day-One comprehensive medical, dental Consideration will be given for comparable education experience and successful licensure. Licensure : Is personally responsible for obtaining, and maintaining a current LPN license within the hiring state in which nursing duties are performed and must meet all State Board of Nursing requirements. Certification :NOTE: one or more of the certifications below may be required based on the position/unit hired to, or acquisition of certification within department required timeframe: ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) PEARS (Pediatric Assessment Recognition and Stabilization) S.T.A.B.L.E. (Sugar, Temperature, Airway, Blood Pressure, Lab Work, And Emotional Support) Six Assessment
