Job Description

We are looking for cooks who have previous experience and can: plan, prep, set up and provide quality service in all areas of food production for menu items and specials in the designated outlets in accordance with standards and plating guide specifications. Maintain organization, cleanliness and sanitation of work areas and equipment.

The Dominick is an independent hotel that offers its leadership team both freedom and responsibility. The downtown address lends itself to a casual, more comfortable style of luxury. The design of the hotel imbues a welcoming feeling to the arrival experience with a soaring lobby space enriched by the warmth of wood louvers and the glow of a fireplace.

Summer is when the Terrace on 7 becomes a coveted destination with the outdoor lounge pool, cabanas, and a chance to imbibe on a sampling of international street food and refreshing cocktails at El Ta’koy. The management team is seasoned, the sales and marketing efforts are well established with longstanding client relationships.

Job Requirements:

1. 1 year experience as a Cook at a Hotel or Restaurant.
2. Food handling certificate.
3. Fluency in English both verbal and non-verbal.
4. Compute basic arithmetic.
5. Provide legible communication.
6. Comprehend and follow recipes.
7. Expand/condense recipes.

Ability to:

  • Perform job functions with attention to detail, speed and accuracy.
  • Prioritize and organize.
  • Be a clear thinker, remaining calm and resolving problems using good judgment.
  • Follow directions thoroughly.
  • Understand guest's service needs.
  • Work cohesively with co-workers as part of a team.
  • Work with minimal supervision.
  • Maintain confidentiality of guest information and pertinent Hotel data.

Desirable:
1. High school graduate or equivalent vocational training certificate.
2. Certification of Culinary training or apprenticeship.
3. Sanitation certificate.
4. Expand and condense recipes.
5. Ability to input and access information in the property management system/computers/point of sales system.
6. Previous guest relations training.
7. Artistic talent.

Required Skills
Advanced Knife Skills Food Preparation Food Safety Knowledge Responsibilities:
- Prepare and cook food items according to recipes and quality standards
- Assist with menu planning and recipe development
- Ensure that all food is prepared in a timely manner and meets quality standards
- Follow proper food handling and sanitation procedures
- Collaborate with the kitchen team to ensure smooth operations
- Maintain a clean and organized work area
- Assist with inventory management and ordering supplies

Skills:
- Previous experience as a line cook or in a similar role in the food industry
- Knowledge of food preparation techniques and cooking methods
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow recipes accurately
- Excellent knife skills for food preparation
- Ability to work well as part of a team and communicate effectively with colleagues
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
