Direct Counsel is representing an elite global law firm in its search for a highly skilled Litigation Associate to join the firm’s Connectivity, Privacy & Information (Copyright) practice group. This opportunity is available in the San Francisco, Silicon Valley, Washington, D.C., or New York offices.

This leading international firm is seeking a Litigation Associate with a strong foundation in copyright law and a passion for working at the cutting edge of legal issues in technology, media, and AI. The group’s practice spans high-stakes litigation and strategic counseling, representing a diverse client base — from early-stage startups to industry-defining tech giants — in some of the most closely watched IP and copyright matters in the country.

This is an exceptional opportunity to work alongside world-class litigators on high-profile cases, including emerging legal challenges surrounding generative AI, music industry copyright disputes, and digital content distribution.


What You’ll Do:
  • Represent clients in all phases of litigation, including discovery, motion practice, trial preparation, and appeals

  • Work on precedent-setting copyright infringement matters, often with media visibility

  • Counsel clients on the intersection of copyright, technology, and privacy in a rapidly evolving legal landscape

  • Collaborate with cross-office teams and contribute to strategic litigation decisions

  • Participate in client meetings, expert witness preparation, and negotiation of settlements


Ideal Candidate Profile:
  • Experience: At least 3 years of litigation experience, preferably with a focus on copyright or intellectual property matters

  • Education: J.D. from an accredited U.S. law school with strong academic credentials

  • Licensing: Active member in good standing with the Bar in one of the listed jurisdictions (CA, NY, DC preferred)

  • Skills:

    • Deep understanding of copyright law and evolving trends in IP and technology

    • Exceptional legal writing, research, and analytical skills

    • Comfortable in a fast-paced, high-profile litigation environment

    • Collaborative mindset and client-first approach
