Kirby Electric is looking for skilled and motivated people that wish to start a career in the electrical construction trade.
We are looking for O6 Apprentices to work and assist on the distribution of low-voltage signals among microprocessor-based devices and controls. Some duties may include installing, connecting, calibrating, and servicing products that move voice, video, audio, and data signals, and products that control mechanical and electrical apparatuses.
General responsibilities
- Assist in the execution of electrical wiring for fire alarms and other electrical systems
- Install electrical apparatus, fixtures and equipment for fire alarms and other systems.
- Install safety and distribution components (e.g. switches, resistors, circuit-breaker panels etc.)
- Connect wiring in electrical circuits and networks ensuring compatibility of components.
- Prepare and assemble conduits and connect wiring through them.
- Prevent breakdown of systems by routinely inspecting and replacing old wiring and insulated cables, cleaning circuits etc.
- Assist in troubleshooting to identify hazards or malfunctions and repair or substitute damaged units.
Skills, Abilities and Requirements
- Willing to obtain their NICET certification as needed
- Valid Electrical license to practice.
- Ability to use electrical and hand tools (e.g. wire strippers, voltmeter etc.) and electrical drawings and blueprints.
- Thorough knowledge of safety procedures and legal electrical regulations and guidelines
- Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving ability
