Position: M&A and Private Equity Litigation Associate
Department: M&A and Private Equity Litigation
Location: Flexible and can be based in Boston, Hartford, Houston, New York, Washington DC, or Orange County, CA
Working Arrangement: Hybrid
Direct Counsel has partnered with a leading law firm seeking a highly qualified associate to join its dynamic M&A and Private Equity Litigation group. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work on high-stakes and complex litigation matters, including indemnification claims, fraud claims, and earn-out disputes for a diverse range of prestigious clients. The successful candidate will have the chance to collaborate closely with senior attorneys and expert witnesses in a highly supportive and innovative environment, fostering both professional development and career growth.
Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with senior attorneys and expert witnesses on complex litigation matters, including indemnification claims, fraud claims, and earn-out disputes.
  • Thoroughly prepare, analyze, and review financial statements and reports to support litigation strategies.
  • Conduct legal research and draft motions, pleadings, and other legal documents while ensuring compliance with procedural rules.
  • Engage in discovery and depositions, including preparing and examining financial documents and working directly with clients.
  • Present comprehensive findings and analyses to clients and senior attorneys, contributing to effective case strategy.
Qualifications:
  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • CPA license is required; candidates without a CPA will not be considered.
  • 3-5 years of relevant litigation experience in M&A or Private Equity settings.
  • The ideal candidate has experience with GAAP, auditing private or public financial statements, and high-stakes disputes.
  • Outstanding academic credentials and proven written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical abilities and critical thinking skills.
  • Familiarity with litigation support tools and legal research databases is a plus.
Client Profile: The M&A and Private Equity Litigation group serves a diverse range of clients, addressing complex and high-stakes litigation matters within a fast-paced environment. The team consists of highly skilled attorneys who leverage their expertise to navigate intricate legal challenges and provide innovative solutions.
Compensation: The salary range for this position is between $250,000 and $325,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
